O dva roky později nastal velký požár (5. září 1869), kdy podlehly ohni dvě třetiny města. Shořelo tehdy 112 domů, kostel i fara. V Bakově v té době žilo přes 1 800 obyvatel, z nichž jen někteří se po dlouhých útrapách odstěhovali. Od roku 1925 vstupuje do výstavby města sama obec. Nejdříve postavili nouzový dům pro chudé rodiny a vybudovali novou budovu pošty. A teď jedna pro poštu samotnou... akceptoval jsem zvýšení cen za balíky, ale 19 Kč za známku na pohlednici po ČR, TO JDĚTE DO PRDELE, JSTE ZLODĚJI. Doufám, že vás zásilkovna postupně zadupe do země, šmejdi. The staff at the counters have improved, but it's not more than two stars. And now one for the mail itself ... Jen by neměli zakládat účty u okénka, od toho je banka nebo internet. Compared to the post office in Mnichov Hradiště, I have always waited only minimally here, I only go to this post office. They just shouldn't set up accounts at the window, hence the bank or the internet.
