It's definitely worth a visit if only for the beautiful typically Czech view. The tour was very interesting because the tour guide personally knows the owner of the castle (who still lives in the castle) and shared a lot of stories from his personal life. I'm afraid the tour is in CZ only unless you pre-order EN for a group.

It was beautiful! It’s awesome that this small village have such a huge castle! The entry fee was 150 Kr/ person!

One of the inspiring Czech castles. You can have a tour approx 1 hour long otherwise the castle is not accessible. The tours are normally quite frequent. Theres also a small cafe/beerhouse where it's possible to have a lunch and a beer.

The castel is in a magnificent position on the Salzava river. It is really nice internally and a rich furniture is still present and visible. Some restoration of the external walls are on going this year so the full access is limited. The best way to access the castle is through the river by kayak, by motorbike or by train from Čerčany station on the mighty line 212.

We had booked a tour of the castle but arrived very early, that's fine, we enjoyed sitting in the sunshine, but then the lady from the ticket office came over and said she had spoken to a colleague and she would take us on our tour earlier than planned. That was above and beyond. There was another couple on our tour who were Czech speaking (we were only expecting Czech) but the delightful guide did her best to explain things to us in English as well, she must've been exhausted after that tour! It was actually a very hot day yet lovely and cool in the castle. There are some beautiful exhibits so I'd say worth paying for permission to take photo's too.

Beautiful castle, well preserved. The guide is very talented, she knows everything. The only (big) disappointment was when the guide told us at the beginning that it was forbidden to take pictures inside, except for those who buy a "license" at the cash desk. They didn't tell me anything when I bought it...I would have paid to keep some memories and share with my family and friends in France... And the group was too big, almost 25-30 persons, in some small rooms, it was almost impossible to see anything :/

Beautiful intact castle built on 1241 C.E. Lots of history surrounds the castle, many interesting facts.

One of most interesting castles in Czechia. It's only 40 km far from Prague, on the bank of Sázava river. Worth visiting this place
