The footbridge stands on the south side of the castle rock. Access from the city center along the Tyršov embankment (upper road) and through a tunnel at the western edge of the rock. The path leads further to the southern castle garden, which has undergone a demanding reconstruction. The chain footbridge in Děčín was established in the years 1829–1831 as part of the modifications of the chateau park. Already in the years 1808-1810, a tunnel was established under the western part of the castle rock and a spindle staircase leading to it from above. Today, the footbridge is the only structure of this type that has been preserved in its original place (a similar bridge near Podolsko on the Vltava was relocated during the construction of the Orlická dam on the Lužnice). It was repaired in 1986. The footbridge crosses the side arm of the Ploučnice, which serves as the drain of the Zámecký pond. Supporting chains with a length of 0.6 m on the right bank are anchored in the castle rock, on the left bank are led over a 12 m high pillar with a gate (of which 5 m above the bridge deck) and anchored to the ground. The railing is simple, metal. The bridge deck is 2 m wide, approximately 30 m long and runs 7 m above the normal level.
