Spomenik Karlu IV podignut uz najljepši most u Pragu koji prolazi preko Vltave.
Monument to Charles IV erected next to the most beautiful bridge in Prague that crosses the Vltava. Charles IV himself laid the foundation stone on July 9, 1357, at exactly 5 hours and 31 minutes. This number was chosen for a reason - when you arrange all the digits you get a symmetrical sequence of odd numbers - 1 3 5 7 9 7 5 3 1.

Near the Charles Bridge, from the side of the Old Town, or as the Czechs call Stare Mesto, there is a monument to Charles IV. The bronze sculpture was made in Nuremberg in 1848 for the 500th anniversary of the founding of Charles University. The author of the monument is a sculptor from Dresden Ernst Julius Hähnel. Part of the funds for the production of the monument was allocated by the university, part was collected from donations. The sculpture, almost 4 meters high, depicts the king holding in his right hand a bull (letter) on the establishment of the University of Prague. On the four sides of the pedestal, there are allegorical human images that personify the 4 faculties of the university: theological, medical, legal and philosophical. At the corners of the pedestal there are four sculptures of famous personalities from the time of Charles IV: Arnošt from Pardubice, Jan Ochko from Vlasimy, Beneš Krabice from Vaitmil and Matijas from Arras. The opening of the monument took place in 1849, because in 1848 there were battles in the vicinity, and in order to protect it, the sculpture had to be closed with formwork. It is one of the most valuable Neo-Gothic monuments in Central Europe.

Pomnik odsłonięto w 1848 roku z okazji 500 rocznicy utworzenia i otwarcia Uniwersytetu Karola. Pomník byl odhalen v roce 1848 u příležitosti 500. výročí založení a otevření Univerzity Karlovy. This monument to King Charles 4th is in the Crusader Knight's Square or Krizovnjke Namesti. The Square fronts the Gateway to the Charles Bright from the Old Town and whilst extremely busy, is well worth praising in and out you have the time, visit the museum about the bridge.
