Её преподнес в дар Праге аббат цистерцианского монастыря. Скульптор Матей Вацлав Екель (Matěj Václav Jäckel) изготовил её в 1709.
Бернард Клервоский (Bernard de Clairvaux, 1091-1153) основал орден цистерианцев, ставящего во главу угла Деву Марию, что и изображено в композиции. Именно ему дана честь водить Данте Алигьери по Раю! Считается, что именно ему принадлежит заслуга популяризаторства культа Мадонны. Отсюда и такая скульптурная композиция. Но лично мне этот святой антипатичен.
The first figure on the right is Madona a sv. Bernard.
It was presented to Prague by the Abbot of the Cistercian monastery. The sculptor Matěj Václav Jäckel made it in 1709.
Bernard de Clairvaux (1091-1153) founded the Cistercian order, which puts the Virgin Mary at the forefront, which is depicted in the composition. It was he who was given the honor to lead Dante Alighieri to Paradise! It is believed that it was he who was credited with popularizing the cult of the Madonna. Hence such a sculptural composition. But personally to me this saint is antipathetic.
