Church of Saint James, Beroun - Seydlovo nám.

Gothic church of st. James was built in the 13th century. In 1543 it was enlarged and rebuilt. It was rebuilt in the Baroque style in 1736. It got its present appearance during extensive reconstruction in 1903–1907.

It is beautiful like most churches

The beautiful church adjacent to the square was founded together with the town at the end of the 13th century. Until the 16th century. was surrounded by a cemetery, today we find a parking lot. It was rebuilt in the middle of the 16th century, but burnt down in 1599. In the second half of the 17th century a new bell tower was built. Between 1903 and 1907 major repairs were carried out. Another major renovation took place in 1736. In the years 1770–71, side emporiums were added, and further repairs followed in 1784. In 2000 the church was equipped with four new bells, named after the Czech saints Václav, Ludmila, Anežka and Vojtěch. whose production was financed from a public collection. The production was ensured by the bell-making work of Rudolf Manoušek from Zbraslav. In front of the church there is a plague column from 1680, when almost half of the city's population died out. ??⛪ The Baroque Church of St. James is built on a Gothic foundation and is the most important church in Beroun. It is located on Hus Square, but the main entrance to the church is from the upper Seydl's smaller square. It is a cultural monument and definitely worth a visit???
