Zasklenou oratoř naposled využíval mecenáš chrámu, následník trůnu arcivévoda rakouský František Ferdinand d´Este (1863–1914) s rodinou. Z Chlumu odjíždí 23. června 1914 s chotí na manévry do Bosny, děti zde zanechává. Po sarajevském atentátu, který byl následně záminkou k vypuknutí 1. světové války, přichází do Chlumu telegrafická zpráva o jeho smrti a smrti jeho manželky Žofie. V chlumeckém kostele za přítomnosti sirotků – Žofie Maxe a Arnošta, teologa P. Stanovského a tety J. Chotkové se lidé s P. Kubiskou večer 28. 6. 1914 modlí za duše zavražděných. V Chlumu se také za ně slouží vůbec první zádušní mše. Arcivévodská oratoř byla zpřístupněna veřejnosti v r. 2014. The glazed oratory was last used by the patron of the church, the heir to the throne, the Austrian Archduke Francis Ferdinand d'Este (1863–1914) and his family. He left Chlum on June 23, 1914 with his wife to maneuver in Bosnia, leaving the children there. After the Sarajevo assassination, which was subsequently a pretext for the outbreak of World War I, a telegraphic report about his death and the death of his wife Zofia comes to Chlum. Měli jsme štěstí na zkoušku varhan, takže jsme nasáli příjemnou atmosféru. Beautiful place, located on a hill above the village. The church is a dominant feature of Chlum near Třeboň. We were lucky to try the organ, so we sucked in a pleasant atmosphere.

When Archduke Franz Ferdinad d´Este and his wife were assasinated in Sarajevo in 1914 (event that triggered WWI), their children preyed for their lives in this church as the family had the summer chateau in Chlum. It definitely worth a visit!
