Počas náletov počas 2. svetovej vojny na kostol spadli dve bomby. Ani jedna však nevybuchla a kostol prečkal bombardovanie len s minimálnym poškodením. Niekto nad ním asi držal ochrannú ruku :) A nice Gothic church built during the reign of Charles IV. Of interest is the monument on the south side of the church. During bombings during World War II, two bombs fell on the church. However, neither exploded and the church survived the bombing with minimal damage. Someone was probably holding a protective hand over him :)

Kromě četných neštěstí zaviněných ohněm zažily zdi chrámu drancování během husitských válek i stavovského povstání, stejně jako zkázu po bombardování Tachova v roce 1945. Na druhé straně byly po celá staletí místem setkávání a duchovní oporou prostých obyvatel, šlechty i potulných obchodních cestujících, hrdým symbolem města a výkladní skříní, dávající i v nejtěžších dobách všem bez rozdílu naději a víru v lepší zítřky.
