Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary

My dad was an altar boy here. For this reason, I was there several times during the turn and filmed. It is a pity that the church is not well looked after.

The beginnings of the Trutnov main church date back to the founding of the town, when the Prague bishop Jan III. from Dražice in his document of 1 May 1260 he defined the boundaries of the parish. The majestic Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary is the work of the Viennese builder Leopold Niedereckr. It is a late Baroque building with Classicist and Rococo elements. The characteristic silhouette of the church is formed by a massive 64 meter high tower with an onion-shaped end. The main altar of the church dates from 1784, around the perimeter of the classicist church hall there are nine side altars. The pulpit is decorated with religious reliefs from 1864. Since 1991, the church has had four new bells, in 1994 a several-year general reconstruction of the church was completed. Beautiful Baroque building Trutnov, whose origins date back to the foundation of the city. In 1505 -1521 the church underwent a reconstruction, the present appearance is from 1756-1782, combining elements of late Baroque, Classicist and Rococo. The chapel in the former sacristy adjacent to the church is dedicated to God's mercy.

Beautiful Roman Catholic church built in the Baroque style. Inside the church, it is worth noting the main altar dedicated to the Nativity of the Virgin Mary and a large unique organ placed on the choir of the church. Behind the church, towards the town hall, from the elevated car park, there is a view of a part of the town along the Úpa river.

Nice church. It is a pity that the tours of the tower are only at special events. The entrance to the church is also not always free, only a view through the grille in the side entrance.
