Beautifully repaired, Romanesque-Gothic monument.

The beautiful Romanesque Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary is the oldest monument in the Průhonice chateau complex. It was built at the same time as the original fortress and was consecrated in 1187 by the Prague bishop Jindřich Břetislav, nephew of King Vladislav. From the fortress, at the height of the first floor, a bridge led to the tower of the church, which led the owners of the manor to the so-called manorial tribune, or emporium, which is why the church is called tribune or emporium type. During the later reconstruction, the Romanesque apse was demolished and the chapel was extended by a Gothic extension. The main winged altar captures scenes from the life of the Virgin Mary and dates from the end of the 15th century from the workshop of the Master of the Vejprnický Altar. A copy of this work is placed in the chapel, the original is stored in the collections of Czech Gothic in the National Gallery in Prague. In 1890, Gothic liar frescoes from the first half of the 14th century were discovered on the walls. Beautiful small chapel with regular Sunday Mass. It is not necessary to pay when entering the park if you are going to mass. A few parishioners usually fill the whole chapel, and the gathering and prayer are always so family-like. Beautiful old frescoes on the walls only enhance the unusual atmosphere.

Nice little church, unusual is admitted stone masonry.
