The house "Na Kocandě" on the corner of Křižovnická and Kaprova streets from 1885-86, where the Nobel Prize winner Jaroslav Heyrovský was born, was built in 1885-86 by Václav Sigmund in the style of the Mannerist Neo-Renaissance. During excavation work in the cellars, the remains of the so-called Valentine's Gate, which used to be part of the Old Town fortifications, were uncovered. It led across the city roughly in the line of today's Revoluční, Na Příkopě, October 28 and Národní streets and was built in the first half of the 13th century. In 1253, other walls were added to it, which led along the river. They included gates in these places, where there were several fords, of which not a single one has survived to the present day. The gate used to be so big that a car passed through it, and its road, paved with river boulders, lay five meters below today's street level. A twenty-meter-long section of the former walls stretches across all the cellars of the house. They were nine meters high and over two meters thick, behind them lay a fence with a fence wall and a 14-20 meter wide and 5-9 meter deep moat. The gate was named after the Romanesque church of St. Valentine's Day, which stood just behind the gate and which all the wagons had to avoid. The name of the gate was given according to the Romanesque church of St. Valentine, standing just behind the gate.

The house is currently owned by the Israeli owner and is finally being renovated. In the backyard of the house is a statue of St. The remains of Valentinská Gate were discovered in the cellar.
