The Art House - Křižovnická 61

Close to the center, very comfortable and clean. But very noisy, poor soundproofing.

An interesting tenement house is decorated with two gables with a dormer between them. Bay windows and balconies contrast with the gray masonry. The facade of the Art Nouveau building from the beginning of the 20th century is complemented on the level of the 3rd and 4th floors by a statue of St. Ludmila on a stone pillar and bust of St. Adalbert. In the entrance hall of the house there is a memorial plaque with Old Bohemian Gothic script and the words: "At this place for 1368 a parish with a chapel from St. Valentin stood here, to which the Prague executioner and the races attended Holy Mass once a year". This romantically tuned memorial plaque relates to Jan Piperger, a Prague executioner who performed this activity since 1866. The Church of St. Valentine's Day stood nearby (on the site of today's apartment building at 11/56 Valentinská Street) and was demolished in 1794, a rectory standing here a century later - as part of a redevelopment before 1897. The house is as described, the people who work there are very competent, very equipped with shampoo bubble bath soap for the kitchen, washer and dryer by necessity and in the kitchen also all the necessary for cooking, frying pans and so on. Very satisfied

The most positive of The Art House is the location, central and everything within half an hour. The apartment (number 6) is spacious, high ceilings and has a view of the busy street. The bus / tram stop is right in front of the building. The staff and reception are extremely friendly and helpful but despite this there are a few negative aspects that might be easy to do. Firstly, the apartment has no air conditioning. During our stay it was 30 degrees and higher and we had to deal with some fans. There are restaurants below and nearby. Their food smells entered the apartment from the rear when we opened all windows for ventilation in the evening. Free-standing air conditioners would be a huge improvement here. There was a very unpleasant and nauseating well smell in the shower / toilet. Closure of all drainage helped but it is clear that this needs to be addressed by the owners. The furniture is cheap and outdated. The sofas had sagged and you could feel the slats and springs through the cushions. The beds slept well despite the fact that the bottom of a bed always collapsed next to the ledge. The kitchen was adequately furnished and adequate during the entire holiday. Upon closer inspection, this location is too expensive in the high season, price / quality ratio is skewed.

It calmly deserves 6 stars for cleanliness, spaciousness, location and equipment. Tram at the entrance, and merto practically in the basement :) around the corner of the same building. Communication Eldorado. To the old town 3 minutes walk. 2 good restaurants under your breath. A small grocery store at the entrance. A 2-room apartment on the ground floor, a huge living room, two bathrooms, one with a bedroom, large bedrooms, comfortable beds, a kitchen fully equipped with a washing machine, dishwasher and hair dryer. Towels, lotions and shampoos, salt, sugar, tea to choose from and even dishwasher cubes. Daily cleaning. Just everything. Someone mentioned street noise, we had no problem with it, it was practically not heard in the bedrooms but the staircase ............ and here the only but serious minus - the door to the apartment. Unfortunately, probably made of paper. We felt like the staircase was part of the apartment. The door, apart from the visual partition, did not insulate from anything else. All the sounds from the staircase were heard in the apartment. We woke up the first night because of these noises. It didn't even have to be any screams, normal conversations or laughs of people coming in, and the sound as if it was happening in our salon. Our bedroom was in front of the door, and because we were with small children who slept in the second bedroom, for obvious reasons, the door was open. In addition, the door lock and the door itself did not give any sense of security. Each time the front door is closed from the street cage !!! it caused the door to our apartment to move and knock (probably a change in pressure on the cage), the closure, the seal and the lock itself. If it wasn't for this inconvenience, the stay would have been for 6 stars.

Magnificent ! Very nice apartment, located in an old style building. Mix of modernity and cachet of the old. Very well equipped, very spacious. The location is just perfect, most points of interest are within walking distance. We will probably be back!
