V budově sídlí i knihovna s čítárnou a veřejným internetem.
It is certainly worth seeing not only because of the permanent exhibitions, but also because of its location in the restored building of the former Piarist college and grammar school. The building houses a library with a reading room and the public Internet.

It is one of the smaller city museums, where the visitor gets acquainted with the past of the city and its surroundings. There is a permanent exhibition of targets from the shooting range, a historic room with objects from the 19th / 20th century, you will also find archaeological finds and more. I definitely recommend it for tourists and locals alike.

The architectural dominant of Masaryk Square in Slany is the building of the Ethnographic Museum. The museum itself was founded in 1885. Due to the lack of permanent premises, the museum was forced to move from place to place. In 1940, he was given the building of the former college of public relations, which was founded in 1659 by Count Bernard Ignac Jan Martinsky. It should be noted that this was the fifth PR school in the Czech lands. Part of the college was the chapel of the Blessed Virgin Mary, restored in 1997 and which became part of the museum. In 1878, the college building was transferred to the city administration, and the institution itself from a religious was transformed into a secular. In 1940, the school moved to a new building, and the Ethnographic Museum and Library were located in the old one. At that time, the main exposition of the museum was made up of archaeological, historical and ethnographic collections. The archaeological collection has arisen on the basis of finds on the Slansky mountain, then it was expanded due to excavations of other places of the Slansky district. At the heart of the historical collection are church artifacts. The ethnographic collection was developed after the ethnographic exhibition of the Czech-Slavic language, which took place in Prague in 1895. On it, the Slany district was presented as a separate pavilion. Museum funds were replenished with donations of citizens, purchases and field research. In the 1930s, the museum’s collections were also replenished with items from closed museums in Kolech and Zvoleneves. It was at this time that an art collection began to form, which was to form the basis of the future city gallery. However, the plans were not given to be realized. And at its core, the Ethnographic Museum of Slana is more of a historical and regional study. In 2014, the museum conducted extensive restoration work, as a result of which both the building itself and the courtyard were transformed.

Hrabě Bernard Ignác Bořita z Martinic založil v roce 1658 piaristickou kolej a dostavěna byla v roce 1665. Kolej piaristů sloužila studentům do roku 1939. Dnes v budově sídlí vlastivědné muzeum, infocentrum Slaný, Knihovna Václava Štecha a městské kino. Count Bernard Ignác Bořita of Martinice founded the Piarist College in 1658 and the building was completed in 1665. It served to the students until 1939. Then the grammar school moved to a new building on Smetana's Square. Part of the object is the former Chapel of the Virgin Mary's Engagement. A complete reconstruction took place in 1997. Today, the building houses a local museum, the Slaný Information Center, Václav Štech Library and the City Cinema.

After sin after several years in Slaný we went to the museum to see. I rate him very positively. Nice exposition. I was most interested in the exposition of archaeological finds and also the reconstruction of rural housing.
