Great school, and great teachers. Our 8 year old is finishing the second year and our 5 year old is about to start this September. We love it.

I didn't have good experience with this school. It depends also on the teachers, but I see why the adult section is closing down. They have NO open class, and I have missed one third of the classes because of illness, but they don't reimburse it. As an adult, you wouldn't want to hurt yourself. I addressed the issue of pain during the lessons, but what I heard from the teacher was "ballet is painful". It shouldn't be if you follow the anatomy. If you are bringing kids, the experience may be different, but I will look for some other schools.

My daughters have been attending the school since they were 3 year old. The school have really developed their skills and has encouraged a love of dance - particularly in my younger daughter who is ballet crazy. They have also provided opportunities outside the classroom to learn about dance and theatre eg. fabulous end of year productions, "flashmob" for International day of dance and the opportunity to participate in a professional production. Thanks everyone!

Oh my goodness, the poor review below has me so angry that I feel I need to jump to the defense of Veronika and her school. Our daughter started with Veronika when she was 4 years old during the initial year the school opened. After three fantastic years attending FIBS we moved back to the US, where our daughter now attends one of the top-rated ballet schools in the country. The level of education she is now receiving does not even come close to what Veronika offered. Sandra at the front desk is lovely with the kids. Jana who runs the business dealings is always organised, prompt, and friendly. Veronika is warm and kind and one of the best people that one could ever hope to meet. Her passion for ballet is evident and she passes the love of dance on to the children in her classes. She is an excellent teacher, firm but never in a harsh way. She expects the kids to be serious and does not appreciate goofing around during class, but her discipline comes with a soft approach and she never raises her voice or acts in a negative manner. She has years or experience as a professional dancer and as a teacher at the professional level. When a group of parents got together and asked Veronika if she would consider offering adult classes she happily put them onto the schedule, even though she was already working full time and didn't really have the time to spare. I don't feel she did this out of a of desire to make more money for the school, but because she saw our bad posture, our lack of turned-out legs and feet, our inflexible bodies, and she knew we needed rescuing! We've been away from Prague and FIBS for 3.5 years now and I can honestly say that her classes are the thing we miss most from our time there. Friends visit, we can Skype people, but Veronika's ballet experience can only be found there and not having it here makes us miss it so much. She is a once-in-a-lifetime teacher and any child who is lucky enough to dance with her will know that once they make their way out into the dance world.

The First International Ballet School in Prague is an excellent school. Our daughter has been a student at the school for seven years running now. The teachers are highly-qualified, caring and attentive, and what´s more, you can tell that they really love teaching. The management is very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

I took my daughter to this school because it used to be the only ballet school in Prague lectured in English language. We went there for 5 years and we moved to the new school, due to there negligence towards my child. They started their focus more on business then on the kids desires and needs. They really hurt my daughter's self esteem and I have no words to express the way we feel. Total disappointment!!! We moved to the ballet academy and the level of ballet is more difficult and teacher is young, nice, supportive and very empathic! If you do not want your kid to get hit by a wooden stick in the nose or be ignored because she doesn't feel comfortable to play a boy role since she is a girl...and get totally ditched from a teacher when I asked for her professional support then this is definitely a school in Prague you should avoid!
