Hauenschild palace

The Mozart family was accommodated in this house between 26 and 28 October 1767, which is reminded of the memorial plaque by tourists.

It is a three-winged three-storey corner house with a late Renaissance corner two-storey bay window. The facade to the square is four-axis with two associated axes on the right side, the facade to Lafayettova Street is seven-axis. The ground floor is decorated with horizontal stucco bossage with landing. The ground floor of the building is on the right side of the Renaissance two-nave mázhausem, vaulted barrel vaults. The two-armed renaissance palace staircase is connected to the mázhaus at the back. The entrance to the house with a late Renaissance sandstone portal is covered by a gate, vaulted by a barrel vault with a late Renaissance forged, translucent grille. The portal is richly decorated with rich stucco, consisting of acanthus leaves with mascarons. Reliefs of standing mythical birds with their beaks open are displayed on the sides. In the exercises decorated with flat beschlagwerkem in circular wreaths are placed the characters of the palace builders: Hauenschildů - left and Jöpnerů Bílovec - right. On the ledge on the sides are built statues of shield-bearers in ancient armor with signs of Bohemia and Moravia. The windows of two floors are decorated with profiled stucco cornice. The windows of the third floor are decorated with simply profiled geometric stucco. The cornice is double. The Renaissance corner bay is tall over two. The bay window is divided horizontally by profiled angled cornices into two strips of windows. The roofs are gabled.

The oldest mention of the house dates from 1569. However, we owe its appearance to the late Renaissance reconstruction under the direction of the burgher family Hauenschild, after which the house is named. In the 90s of the 16th century. an important bay window was also built with a relief decoration that illustrates scenes from Ovid's transformations. During his stay in Olomouc, the young Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart lived in the house for a short time, before moving with his family for a longer period to the building of the Chapter Deanery (1767). Today there is a restaurant on the ground floor of the palace and offices on the upper floors.
