★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The help is awful. No one wants to actually help you. I had to display the exact item from their own website and it said "Building Materials" . The guy hardly would listen to me and kept saying "Garden! Garden!". After I explicitly asked another employee to type in the code of the item into her computer she said no stores have it. Then told me to go across the country to Ostrava. Thanks Hornbach.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My favorite hardware store anywhere! Very knowledgable staff. Incredible selection of hardware, tools, garden stuff etc., well organized and clean. The only problem might be English-- it is difficult to find someone who speaks it well. Bring along your Google translate.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great DIY/hardware/home improvemet store with a garden and houseplants department. You can find basically anything from these categories. The store is huge, so if you are struggling to find something, ask the staff, they will help you find what you seek.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I tried to leave the store without buying anything and committed the cardinal sin of trying to exit the store via the entrance. I received a stern telling off for my troubles.
There were no barriers or turnstiles, the automatic entrance doors open from inside the building (allowing two-way traffic), the checkouts were crowded and there was no one actually coming in via the entrance, so I thought I could simply exit the way I came in. Big mistake!
My grave crime earned me a proper angry Czech shouting barrage from the two middle-aged women on the customer service desk who accosted me and forced to turn back and exit the store the 'correct' way, i.e. squeezing past all the other customers queuing up at the checkouts.
It's one thing being unhelpful to customers, or treating them like a massive inconvenience (as is the typical standard in this country), but actually telling them off for not following some (largely arbitrary) one-way system is beyond parody.
