On the plateau above Smíchov and Hlubočepy was the castle Děvín from the first half of the 14th century. It was inhabited for about 100 years, and in the 16th century it was the target of testing the works. There are not many remains here today, but there is a beautiful view of Prague, and walks along the plains with steppe flowers are wonderful.

Remains of Děvín Castle are located in the western part of the plain called "Na rovinách" (flat area). Today, only terrain traces in the relief can be found here. However, at that time it was a luxury castle of block disposition, which was probably built before 1338 by Štěpán of Tetín, nephew of the Přemyslid left-wing Jan Volek. Around 1370, the castle was bought by the Carthusian monastery and its other destinies are unknown. In 1437, Emperor Sigismund allegedly demolished it as the seat of robbers. At the beginning of the 16th century, the ruins served as a training target for new Prague cannons. Large remains of the walls are still noticeable in the drawing from 1689. In the 19th century stone was mined from the remains of the castle.

Absolutely stunning place a stones throw away from smichov and podoli. Was hoping I'd find a kind man with cold beer at the top of the hill when I was walking there, but when I got there I forgot all about him and sat down to enjoy one of the sexiest views of Prague I have ever experienced.
