Zpočátku střežila Pražský hrad Obec sokolská a potom legionáři. Stejnokroje byly zavedeny v roce 1990.

The Martinic Palace was built around 1700 according to the project of the famous Roman architect Carlo Fontana. A simple baroque palace with a high arbor roof was built between 1702-05 by Roman architect C. Fontana and Italian builder G. B. Scotti for the viceroy of Naples George Adam of Martinice. It is a unique proof of Roman architecture in Prague. Since 1837 there has been a military hospital in this palace. The castle guard battalion has moved here in 1960 and nowadays the palace still serves as the barracks. Prostý vrcholně barokní palác s vysokým altánovým střešním nástavcem vystavěli v letech 1702–05 římský architekt C. Fontana a italský stavitel G. B. Scotti pro místokrále neapolského Jiřího Adama z Martinic.

The castle guard is my heart's desire. The building where it is located is not normally open to the public. It is worthwhile to go here to walk and see all the surrounding historic buildings and walk not only along Hradčanské Square but also walk through Loretánská Street and the New World and look at Loreta. Definitely worth it.
