A monument to one of our greatest greats, Master Jan Hus. A place that is definitely worth a visit.

The memorial of Jan Hus with his statue and quotes of his, Prokop Holý and Jan Žižka are carved in the rock. Right at the end of the village Klokočí. Quiet and peaceful place.

The Jan Hus Memorial can be found just outside the village of Klokočí, if you follow the road towards Rohlin. These places have long been called "On the Gap". The construction of the monument began in the autumn of 1933 and the work was taken over by the local Ornamental Association in Klokočí with the help of all local corporations and many citizens. With the help of wedges and irons, the middle room was broken, in which a solid column for the statue of Master Jan remained in the middle. Two new smaller rooms were excavated on the sides. They were designed in the Gothic style. The memory of the divine warriors Jan Žižka of Trocnov and Prokop Holý is immortalized in them. In the middle of the monument you will find a statue of Master Jan Hus carved from Hořice stone. Hus' slogans, the names of God's warriors, as well as the dates related to the work were engraved in the side niches. This work was performed free of charge by the Turnov stone sculpting workshop of the Hlaváček company. The year 1434 on the outer front of the rock memorial commemorates the tragic battle of Lipany, whose 500th anniversary fell on 1934, when the memorial of Master Jan Hus in Klokočí was presented to the public. And the second year 1934 - the year of completion - is engraved on the right side of the monument. The Jan Hus monument can be found just outside the Klokočí village if you drive along the road to Rohliny. From the ancient times these places have been called "Na mezírce" (By the gap). The center of the cave a solid pillar was left for thestatue of Master Jan. On the sides two smaller rooms were digged in Gothic style. They form a monument dedicated to the warriors of Jan Žižka from Trocnov and Prokop Holý. In the middle of the monument you will find the statue of Master Jan Hus carved out of Hořice Stone. In the sides of the alcoves, Hus's passwords, the names of God's warriors, as well as the years relating to the work, were engraved into the rocks. This work was carried out free of charge by the workshop of Hlaváček from Turnov. The year 1434 on the outer face of the rock memorial reminds of the tragic battle of Lipany, whose 500th anniversary was celebrated in 1934, when the monument in Klokočí was handed over to the public. DESCRIPTION The inconspicuous and unconventional Hus monument (it does not consist of the whole figure of Master Jan Hus, as usual, but only his face) stands in the middle of the park. The monument consists of a granite prism with a concrete relief of the head of M. Jan Hus. He is portrayed as a suffering, exhausted man, from whom he still has a strong determination. The face is made by expressive stylization - with prominent cheekbones, sunken eyes and a half-open mouth. Below the relief is the inscription: M. J. HUS / "TRUTH TRUE TO EVERYONE".
