In 1742, the military garrison of Empress Maria Theresa camped under the command of her husband, Duke Franz Stephen of Lorraine at the place, where the Church of the Finding of the Holy Cross stands. The task was to expel the French and Bavarian garrison out of Prague. On August 6, 1742 one soldier found an overgrown metal cross while cutting a tree. He gave it to the Duke, who kept it - it apparently positively influenced the course of the battle and helped the troops to victory. Later the Duke handed it over to the Empress. She came to Prague in 1743 to be crowned Queen of Bohemia and on that occasion also visited the site of the original military camp. In place where a metal cross was found, she laid the foundation stone for the construction of the church, which she had dedicated to Finding the Holy Cross. On 25 August 1754 the church was consecrated by the Archbishop of Prague in the presence of Maria Theresa herself.

Kříže a sv. Heleny".
Chapel of the Finding of St. Cross is a very nice example of Baroque art, the author was said to be Kilián Ignác Dientzenhofer himself. It was consecrated in 1754 with the participation of Empress Maria Theresa, abolished in 1784 by Emperor Joseph, restored in 1892 ... Since 2011, the Greek Catholic liturgy has been held here every Sunday. In 2016 it was consecrated to the "Holy Cross and St. Helena".
