V jeho době byl Kostelec jedním ze sídel rodu Slavníkovců. Renesanční jednolodní kostel s čtvercovou lodí z let 1568–1569 byl postaven Jaroslavem Smiřickým ze Smiřic v místě gotické hradní kaple a románského kostelíka, založeného sv. Vojtěchem. Vybavení pochází ze 16. a 17. století. Hlavní oltář je renesanční, inspirován dílem Albrechta Dürera. Všechno vysvětlí a je moc hodná . DĚKUJEME. The chapel is beautiful! We had a wedding here for a weekend. Beautiful place. Great staff. Must mention the registrar Mrs. Fousková. Na jejím místě původně stavala gotická kaple. Pořádají se zde svatby. Beautiful renaissance chapel of st. Kostel totiž mohl být i vytápěn, k tomu sloužily dva krby dodnes na kruchtě zachované... Celý areál je památkově chráněn.
