Именно здесь располается старейший в Чехии действующий монастырь капуцинов. Многие туристы обходят этот религиозный памятник стороной. А зря! Крытая галерея соединяет обитель с легендарной Лоретой, о которой читайте в другом отзыве. Капуцинский монастырь на Градчанах был построен в 1602 году, по воле императора Рудольфа II. Основателем обители является миссионер-итальянец - Лоренцо Бриндизийский. Монастырский комплекс достраивался в течение нескольких веков. В 1757 году, во время осады Праги прусскими войсками, главное здание обители было повреждено. В память об этом на территории монастыря до сих пор хранятся пушечные ядра. В годы правления императора Иосифа II, когда массово закрывались католические монастыри, пражская капуцианская обитель на Градчанах чудом осталась действующей, благодаря тому, что монарх оценил пользу от благотворительности, которую осуществляла братия капуцинов. В годы Второй Мировой войны в монастыре базировалась тюрьма СС. Когда война закончилась, братия вернулась в родную обитель, но ненадолго – новое коммунистическое правительство конфисковало землю и все постройки. Только после падения режима коммунистов в Чехии ордену возвратили его владения. Монастырь построен в стиле барокко. Компактные строения не отличаются пышным убранством, как и подобает обители капуцинов. Жилое здание с кельями окружено двориком, в котором высажены фруктовые деревья и огород, есть поле для игры в мини-футбол. During the Second World War, an SS prison was based at the monastery. When the war ended, the brethren returned to their home monastery, but not for long - the new communist government confiscated the land and all the buildings. Only after the fall of the communist regime in the Czech Republic did his order be returned to the Order. The monastery was built in the Baroque style. Compact buildings are not distinguished by luxurious decoration, as befits a Capuchin monastery. The residential building with cells is surrounded by a courtyard in which fruit trees and a vegetable garden are planted, there is a field for playing mini-soccer.
