F	Fra T on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice position. Nice breakfast. BUT Rooms are really dirty: bed bugs (I found those in two different rooms), dust (and hair) everywhere, dirty mirrors and shower curtains should be changed (they smell bad and they become yellow)

So chill and enjoy some place to stay that doesn't contribute to Prague being torn apart by gentrification.
K	Kevin McGrath on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I am an American student who moved to the Czech Republic to study, and I've been staying at Kolej Komenskeho for about 2 weeks. I understand that some people have a negative view towards Komenskeho, but in actuality it is not a bad dorm/hostel. In fact I would say it is probably the best dorm in Prague, compared to the others I have seen. The breakfast is fine, the coffee is hot, and the woman who manages it does a good job of keeping it clean. The beds are more of a pad than a mattress, but I think anyone can handle it. If you're a student I would wait to get wifi access to eduroam instead of purchasing the hard-wired internet that they will sell you for a small price. Overall I would say that it's a fine place to stay, the staff is kind and helpful- with some exceptions of course- but as long as you don't have high expectations then this is a fine place to stay. If you are looking for a place to stay long-term I would start looking for an apartment now, as while it is manageable to live at Komenskeho, I believe that there are cheaper apartment options. It is not an American style dorm, so as long as you don't expect too much, you'll survive.
P	Paula Vazquez on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ When it comes from a person whose country has no student dormitories, and after visiting other Charles rooms, I'd say this is an amazing place. I totally miss what was my home for a few months. Beautiful people in reception and office.
N	Nathan Smock on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I stayed here back in 2000 for a month. The reviews are bringing back fond memories and it sounds like the place hasn't changed! My advice, lean into it. I missed out on so much because I whined and moaned about everything. Eighteen years later your breakfast may be better, but you're not going to remember it by tomorrow. You're going to long for the Romanticism of those sleeping pad beds, waking up to the tram going by outside and walking to Maly Buddah. (Which you really need to do!)
m	marty mitch on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I came here years ago for an exchange experience. 5 stars for the position, quite close to the city centre, BUT the cleaning service is close to non existent (and sharing your space with dirty people doesn't help at all) and the clerks (particularly one lady) at the entrance, stop you even after knowing you, asking your pass card. I was continuously asked that for one month and there are just 3 different people. I can understand it's a matter of security but seriously, even after 10, 20, 30 days...?? Obviously, there is food machine inside and you can wash and dry your clothes in the -1 floor at a fair price.

Rooms aren't very nice - the furniture is old and there is dust everywhere, but there are nice common rooms, there is an option to pay for a nice breakfast (125 kc for "all you can eat"). It just looks like they renovated just a part of the dormitory. And there is something that is quite uncommon among other dorms - some people at the reception office speak english.
