The Dean's Church of St. Prokop is one of the most important monuments in Strakonice and after passing through the castle gate you will be impressed by it´s majestic silhouette towering on the central rock of the first courtyard. Originally it was probably a manor church of the family of Bavorov of Strakonice, after the establishment of the Hospitaller of Johannism, the church became monastic. Since 1786/7 it has become a dean's church. It was originally dedicated to st. Adalbert, since the 14th century is called the church of st. Prokop. The oldest, late Romanesque stage dates back to the year 1243. Wall paintings from 1340 were unveiled during the reconstruction work. The worship of the Roman Catholic Church is regularly held here every Sunday. It is possible to see the church during a tour of the capitular hall and the cloister where you enter from the second courtyard.
