The Dean's Church of St. Procopius is one of the most important monuments in Strakonice, and after passing through the castle gate, you will be literally amazed by its majestic silhouette towering on the central rock of the first courtyard. Originally, it was probably a manorial church of the Bavarian family from Strakonice, after the establishment of the St. John's command, it was a monastery church. From 1786/7 it became the dean's church. It was originally dedicated to St. Adalbert, since the 14th century is called the Church of St. Prokop. The oldest, late Romanesque stage dates back to before 1243. During the renovations, murals from 1340 were unveiled. Every Sunday, services are held here regularly by the Roman Catholic Church. The church can be seen during a tour of the chapter hall and cloister, which is entered from the second castle courtyard. The oldest, late Romanesque stage dates back to the year 1243. Wall paintings from 1340 were unveiled during the reconstruction work. The worship of the Roman Catholic Church is regularly held here every Sunday. It is possible to see the church during a tour of the capitular hall and the cloister where you enter from the second courtyard.
