Linden alley or "Libosad" is a park located in the northeast direction near Jicin. In the first half of the 17th century in the village of Valdice, a monastery of the Order of the Carthusians arose. By order of Albrecht von Wallenstein, the owner of the Jicin estate, on the way between the monastery and the city, it was built in 1630–1634. a baroque summer palace with a large park and a hunting reserve. From Jičín to the palace, a four-row linden alley 1.7 km long was planted. Before the arrival of the Austrian emperor Franz I, the summer palace was rebuilt in the classical style. In later years, the palace was not used and completely dilapidated. The park adjacent to the palace, called "Libosad", has three parts. The upper part of the park, located just behind the palace, was richly landscaped, including several pavilions, fountains and a number of flower beds. The lower part of the park away from the palace was used for economic purposes. Behind the lower part began "obora" - a territory for breeding animals. The park is a nature reserve, its area is 2,016 hectares.
Of the 1,140 trees planted on the orders of Count Waldstein, 970 have survived to this day. In the places of dead trees, the city carefully plants new young lindens.

One interesting thing awaits you while walking in the alley. Along the asphalt road are sandstone blocks with symbols of the planets of the solar system, which were known in Wallenstein's time. There should be a total of 12 stone blocks on the way from Wallenstein Castle to Loggia. The first site is the first courtyard of the castle.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Lipova Alej is Waldstein’s answer to today’s grow-a-tree campaign. But instead of planting a tree for each newborn as many countries are doing in an attempt to promote awareness of the environment, Waldstein planted not one but 1200 trees simultaneously. This excellent and well-thought afforestation project was conducted with the aim of creating a 2km-long dead-straight walking avenue, guarded from each side by a row of 600 evergreen linden trees. The result is nowadays clear for all to see: the trees, fully grown have for the most part (exceptions are spots where trees have been replaced) led to the formation of two side walls of greenery separated from each other by a passageway 4m wide. Over the passageway, a natural roof draped in flourishing foliage provides enough shade to render walking pleasant even on hot summer days.
The Lipova passageway has a gravelled pathway for trekkers and a solid-floor track for cyclists. Trekkers are advised to avoid hitting the cycle track; group cyclists appear noiselessly and unexpectedly from nowhere and fly past a walking couple like a thunderbolt in the blue.
A short walk on Havlickova east of the Old Town directs you straightaway to Lipova Alej, its leafy start-off spot being right past the roundabout. Across the street at the far end of the 2km passageway is one of Jicin’s prime attractions. It is the recently renovated garden of Libosad, a park-like spinney with rare species of old trees, water springs and life-size statues scattered along the pathways. The highlight here is the princely loggia, a summer palace with a superb overhanging terrace that watches over the whole Libosad garden. Both the garden and the loggia were in ruins when I visited three years ago but definitely great today after a no-expense-spared restoration.
Near the Libosad garden, a short distance further east is the derelict Jewish cemetery. The epitaphs on the grim tombstones show the names and dates of birth of those interred within; others show as well the dates of transportation to the concentration camp in Auschwitz.
