★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Want to get the visceral impact of the Iron Curtain? Come to Cizov, and walk along a remaining stretch. Then, walk down the trail to the Austrian border. The experience is worth it.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Excellent place. The only place where you can find a piece of the iron curtain...fence and the tower

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice to visit it but it is rather small and therefore not as overwhelming as I thought it would be. If you are in the neighborhood go and check it out but don't make a big detour for it. Would be great if the Czech government would make it a bigger site and dress it up more so it gives more of a feeling of how it was

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ During a bike rode from Znojmo to Vranov I stumbled across this remnant of the Iron Curtain. Quite incredible to see!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Impressive place. A reminder about what measures the oppressive state may take to keep the oppressed people from fleeing.
On the other hand, it's just a fragment of barbed wire fence with a lookout tower. There's no museum, you're free to roam around the place on your own and imagine how it was there just over 30 years ago.
Infocenter is near, but it belongs to NP Podyji, and not the monument itself. Many tourists stop here for a few minutes on the way to or from the Hardegg bridge (Thayabrücke) on the actual border with Austria.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Partially reconstructed leftovers of Iron Curtain , separating the east from the west in 1951-1989. 2km away from the border of Austria/Germany. People were shot, shocked to death by 10.000V in the fence.
Interesting… they say 390 people killed on flee in these years, compared to 654 soldiers. Just 10 in action -> 644 by committing suicide or an accident.
Parking is forbidden in this small village. You’d better park on a place when entering the village
