The water reservoirs in Klatovy's main square have a long history. The original city fountain stood opposite the corner house No. 171. In its center was built a stand with four brass tubes, while at the top stood a virgin witch, from whose breasts flowing water into the copper reservoir. From the reservoir on the top floor of the water tower, water flowed through the pipe to get its own pressure to the highest point on the south side of the square. This fountain was destroyed by a fire in 1615. It is not known since the second fountain stood on the square (opposite the corner house to Randova street no. 151). From there the water was routed underground to the old town bath. The third fountain in the city stood on Pražská Street opposite house no. 159.
