J	Jaroslav Novák on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Kostel sv. Jana Křtitele patří k nejhodnotnějším stavebním památkám jižních Čech. Gotický kostel vznikal postupně od 3. čtvrtiny 13. století, kaple sv. Mikuláše je označována za perlu vrcholné gotiky v jižních Čechách. Bohatá výzdoba kostela se řadí k nejvýznamnějším projevům českého nástěnného malířství poloviny 14. století. V interiéru kostela se nacházejí cenné raně barokní oltáře, renesanční a barokní lavice, kazatelna se sochou sv. Jana Křtitele a řada náhrobků. Minoritský klášter, jehož počátky sahají do 14. století, se nachází při severní straně kostela. Jeho nejhodnotnější částí je východní strana křížové chodby a tzv. Soukenická kaple, původně kapitulní síň, sklenutá na středový sloup. Stavební úpravy ostatních částí ambitu probíhaly do konce 15. století, z této doby pocházejí nejstarší nástěnné malby. Church of St. John the Baptist is one of the most valuable building monuments in southern Bohemia. The Gothic church was built from the 3rd quarter of the 13th century, the chapel of St. Nicholas is referred to as the pearl of the highest Gothic in southern Bohemia. The rich decoration of the church belongs to the most significant manifestations of the Czech wall painting of the middle of the 14th century. Inside the church there are valuable Early Baroque altars, Renaissance and Baroque benches, a pulpit with a statue of St. John the Baptist and a number of tombstones. Minorite monastery, whose origins date back to the 14th century, is located at the northern side of the church. Its most valuable part is the eastern side of the cross-passage and the so-called Soukenicka Chapel, originally a capitular hall, centered on the central pillar. The construction of the other parts of the cloister was in progress until the end of the 15th century, the oldest wall paintings are the result of this time.
