Náměstí U Orionky

One of two monuments to Prague trolleybus transport in Prague. A place to be visited by every transport fan. From there the last trolleybus set off for his ride.

There is nothing to evaluate, no one is coming here, everyone is just trying to get away from this place;) There is nothing here, it is difficult to call it a square.

The square has long lost the reason for its name. The original building of the Orion chocolate factory (hence the familiar name of Orionka) - later used as a drug and antibiotic Sevac for many years - has long been demolished. Since 2007. Instead, a new developer "deed" - a residential complex of poor architectural standard. The squares are defakto two. The first in front of the former Orion, now a development object, residential houses. And second on the site of the former historic final trolleybus 52. The second square is renovated quite sensitively. I just do not understand the architect who did not choose to create a long-beaten path through its center - towards Říčanská Street. Anyway, people here again walked the path. The dominant of the square itself is the monument of the last trolley bus line in Prague. Trolleybus stop in retro style - even with a few meters of symbolic trolleybus trolleybuses. The southern part of this second square is (at the beginning of Benešovská Street) a beautifully reconstructed villa of the legendary Štollo paint maker. The southern part of the first square consists of the above-mentioned development project on the site of the former chocolate factory and later the Sevac drug factory. MICHAL STEIN

Beautiful square, from where the last trolleybus was sent before midnight on October 15, 1972.

At first glance, a striking place, which, however, hides a historically valuable artifact in the form of a former trolleybus stop (respectively turntable), as a reminder of the time when trolleybuses were a common part of Prague.
