Kdo by neznal tuto obec z povinné četby... Petra a Pavla s dřevěnou zvonicí. All Czech natives know this village from the school mandatory reading... When I saw on the map that I will be nearby, it was clear, that I must see with my own eyes both the monument of Horymír´s horse nsmed Šemík and the church of St. Peter and Paul with wooden bell tower. In either case I was not disappointed, perhaps only the weather could be better. The first written mention of the village dates back to 1331, but the local settlement is much older. Neumětely have always been a typical agricultural village since ancient times. About 500 inhabitants live there today. The immortal legend of Horymír and his horse was first recorded in the 16th century by the historian Václav Hájek of Libočany in his Chronicle of Bohemia and at the end of the 19th century made even more famous by Alois Jirásek in the Old Czech Legends.
