The village near Beroun, located on the river Berounka, offers a lot. Ideal for a half-day trip, either by train or along the cycle path from Beroun. Here you can visit the glassworks and look at the production and processing of glass, visit a beautiful castle with a nearby cemetery, ride a bike trial and eat very well in the restaurant of the Prague hotel. In the summer months, Nižbor is a great place for swimming.

We arrived late for a tour. But there was enough time to sign up to see the store and shop a bit.

The village until 1946 was called Nová Huť - New Ironworks (sometimes also New Ironworks by Beroun or New Ironworks under Nižbor), since the foundation of the village was the Ironworks, founded in 1512 by the knight's family Otta of Los. The end of the Ironworks caused a great flood in 1872 and the fall of the Vienna Stock Exchange in 1873. Today over 2000 inhabitants live here. An important industrial enterprise in the village is the glassworks that was owned by former senator Jiří Rückl. The most beautiful view of Nižbor (also a tip for a great trip) will take place at the tip of the rock promontory under the church of the Ascension of Holy Cross when you reach the place following red mark from Křivoklát Castle through beautiful wooded hillocks. The village is the intersection of hiking trails towards Křivoklátsko and Beroun, the river is very popular among watermen. Interesting fact: Nižbor passes the 14th meridian of the eastern length, the exact place is marked in the chateau pavement and there is also a table with the inscription: "The 14th meridian of the east longitude passes along this line".
