Pro spojení obou břehů Berounky sloužil původně přívoz a brod pod jezem. V roce 1865 byla dokončena pýcha Novohuťských - železný most s dřevěnou vozovkou. For the connection of both banks of Berounka originally the ferry served near the weir. In 1865 the pride of local "New Ironworks" employees was completed - an iron bridge with a wooden road. In honor of Prince Fürstenberg - one of the investors - it was named as Max's Bridge. When the flood destroyed it in 1872, a new iron bridge with stone pillars was built two years later. The cost of its construction was very high at those times, so the toll was collected until the beginning of the first republic. In 1965 the steel structure was replaced with reinforced concrete, which was laid on the original sandstone pillars.
