Vznik Kounova je datován mezi 11. až 12. stoletím, do období velké kolonizace, ve kterém vznikala téměř všechna sídla na Poddžbánsku. První písemná zmínka pochází z roku 1228. Zásadním mezníkem v historii Kounova se stal rok 1934, kdy mladý místní učitel Antonín Patejdl objevil na vrchu Rovina severně od Kounova čtrnáct kamenných řad neznámého původu.
A small and quiet village in the fertile hops region on the edge of the Džbán highlands and Džbán nature park with a really beautiful nature around. The origin of the Kounov is dated between the 11th and the 12th centuries, during the period of great colonization, in which almost all of the settlements in Podjabansk were established. The first written mention dates back to 1228. The year 1934 became a crucial milestone in Kounov's history, when young local teacher Antonin Patejdl discovered fourteen stone rows of unknown origin on the hill of Rovina north of Kounova.
