An interesting feature on the newly reconstructed municipal office building in Kamýk is the memorial room of Bedřich Smetana. Smetana spent his honeymoon in Kamýk in 1860 with his second wife Barbora (Bettina) Ferdinandová. The local court was rented by JUDr. Otto Pollak, who was married to her older sister. On June 10, 1860, the widow Smetana married for the second time, and a several-day stay in Kamýk could be called the wedding journey of the newlyweds Smetana. The village commemorated the composer's stay by unveiling a memorial plaque in 1993 and setting up a memorial hall in which you can see reminders of the famous composer's stay, excerpts from the diary and his hand-drawn drawings of the region. Unfortunately, the room was closed at the time of my visit to the village. In addition to the Pub under the Castle, you can also see the pseudo-Renaissance "chateau" building, which the then owner of the Pollak farm built in 1865 and the famous composer lived there. You will find that memorial plaque on the fortress building. Unfortunately, the building is inaccessible today.
