Nemohl jsem se ubránit pocitu, že jsem na ostrově a všechny ty domy tu někdo postavil v posledních 50 letech. Přitom jde o ves, jejíž počátky sahají do XI. Století (rvní zmínka o tvrzi je učiněna v zakládací listině litoměřické kapituly za vlády Spytihněva II. z roku 1057 pod jménem Peschaz). Jsou ale pravděpodobně starší a zřejmě měly souvislost s někdejším brodem přes řeku Labe. Jméno obce má původ v písku s významem „ Ves obyvatel písků či místa písčitého.“ Pojmenování vesnice zcela koresponduje s polohou, protože zde byl v minulosti těžen kvalitní písek velice intenzivně a ve velkém množství. Díky tomu se dnes Píšťany rozkládají na břehu velkého jezera. It was a strange and interesting feeling to walk through this small village on both sides surrounded by water. Thanks to this, the Píšťany today are situated on the shore of a large lake. It was a strange and interesting feeling to walk through a small village surrounded on both sides by water.
