Původně šlo zřejmě o kruhovou slovanskou osadu, tvořenou několika z části zahloubenými chýšemi a otevřeným ohništěm. Ryjice, as one of the few villages on the Ústecko region, has a first written mention since 1186 in the Latin language as "VILAS RIGICI". This was probably due to the fact that in 1169, together with the nearby Povrly and Roztoky, it was dedicated to the Johanites by King Vladislav I. Originally, it was apparently a circular Slavic settlement, consisting of several partly embeded huts and with an open fire. Then it gradually formed an elongated village. A green tourist sign will lead you to Blansko Castle after roughly two kilometers and an altitude of 180 meters. From its viewing platform, in the case of nice weather, you will enjoy an awesome circular view across the northern part of the Bohemian Central Mountains, as well as the silhouette of the Ještěd dominant in the Jizera Mountains.
