Opárenské valley

The six-kilometer-long picturesque forested Opárenské Valley, together with the "Gate of Bohemia" area (Porta Bohemica), is significantly different from most of the Bohemian Central Mountains in terms of its geological structure. Transformed and volcanic rocks of ancient and Paleogene origin come to the surface here. The most important representation is the quartz porphyry, from which millstones were made - millstones. According to the employees - "žernovseků" (those who cut the stones), the name of the local villages Malé and Velké Žernoseky (on the right bank of the Elbe) is derived. There used to be several mills in the valley, the last of which was still in operation during World War II. Two of them are still open today and offer refreshments and accommodation. The names of local villages Malé and Velké Žernoseky (on the right bank of the Elbe) are derived from the names of "these who make the mill stones". Previously several functional mills were in the valley, the last of them was in operation even during the Second World War. Two of them are open today and offer refreshments and accommodation.

We walked through the beautiful valley from Velemín to below Lovoš. In mid-November, there weren't even so many people and not cyclists at all. There are several mills along the way and excellent refreshments in the Černodolský mill about halfway. We didn't reach the Elbe, we took it to Lovoš in the middle.

Nice walk through the woods along the stream. If you are lucky, you will also see deer. You can find caches. The ruins of the Opárno castle. The Černodolský mlýn restaurant has an open window. Good food and friendly staff. Food on site or with you. Toilet open and clean.

Great place, they organize outdoor weddings in a quiet location, playground, outdoor and indoor seating.

An ideal place for a trip with the family. Beautiful nature, castle ruins, children's playground and sheep feeding. And definitely have ginger tea at the window, there is nothing wrong with that.

Really beautiful valley! From Malé Žernoseky via Oparno and Lovoš to Lovosice. It was really great relaxation!

A beautiful walk from Malé Žernoseky to Dolský mlýn, feasible even with a pram. Even small children can handle it, the route is about 3 km long up a gentle hill. There are several places to sit on the way and several stops with information about the local nature.
