This is by far my favourite Vietnamese restaurant (bistro) in Prague. This is a hidden gem that only local Vietnamese people know about. Do you know why? Well, if you are reading this, you have probably visited the famous Trang An restaurant few blocks away, and you probably think that the food there is heaven on earth and I believe you, but I guess not many of you know how that restaurant get so famous, right? Ok, let me tell you my story, so my parents use to have a shop in this market for over twenty years, so I basically grew up in this neighbourhood. One day the owners of now Famous Trang An restaurant (then Pho Tuan Mai) started to sell the famous Vietnamese PHO soup for our community. The idea for them was at first just to support the main business and help the community, if they were not able to cook their own meals, because sometimes they were basically to busy. So, every know and then, I and many more Vietnamese people in the community here came and supported them. Well, I used to call the place Pho Chu Tuan Co Mai (literally PHO of Uncle Tuan and Auntie Mai). Years after years, when my mom was to busy, she would give me money to buy a meal from this place and it was amazing. I would say that besides the old generation of Vietnamese, who used or still works there, no one else know about this story. Well, the suprise of this story is, that the main Chef of the old (ex) Pho Tuan Mai bistro (now Trang An restaurant) is uncle Thanh and by now, I think you already guess that is man is now the Owner of this bistro. And the food you ask? Well, listen to me my fellow PHO lovers, if there is food heaven on Earth, this is it!!! Totally recommend Bun Cha and Pho Bo. The owners are also nice and friendly. Would come back next time :)
