The beautiful Rococo sandstone Marian column with a statue of the Immaculate Conception and four statues of saints on a pedestal around the column dates from 1765. The authorship of the sculpture is ambiguous. According to some sources, the creator of the sculptural group is not known with certainty, as the relevant city books have not been preserved. Other sources attribute the authorship to the local sculptor Josef Bergmann (1713–1789). The Marian Column was installed in the central city square (formerly the Market Square) in Podebrady in 1765. According to some researchers, the authorship of this monument belongs to the local sculptor Josef Bergmann. However, a number of historians believe that the creator of the final architectural form of this sculptural group is not exactly known, since no written sources have survived. The Mariana Column is made in the Rococo style. The foundation of the base of the pedestal is concrete, two-stage. The pedestal itself in the plan is divided into a square with concave sides and truncated corners. At the corners of the pedestal there are statues of four saints. On the southeast side there is St. Vojtech Street with a miter, crutch and oar. On the northeast side, there is a statue of St. Prokop with a miter and a spear and a devil on a chain at his right foot. On the northwest side is Saint Wenceslas with a flag and a shield with an eagle. On the southwest side there is a statue of St. Florian with a flag. A high column was erected on the pedestal, made in the Corinthian style. At the top of the column is a statue of the Virgin Mary, standing on the globe and stepping on a snake. The first major overhaul of the monument was carried out in 1837. However, by the end of the 19th century, the column was so badly damaged by rainwater that it threatened to collapse. In 1896, the sculptural group was repaired by the academic sculptor A. Horak. Then an iron fence was made for him according to the project of the sculptor Bohuslav Shnirkh, but later the fence was removed.
