Podlipanské muzeum uchovává ve svých sbírkách konzervovaný nález depotu drobných středověkých mincí nejrůznější středoevropské provenience, který svým počtem – celkem 2036 kusů – představuje v rámci regionu zcela mimořádný nález. Poklad byl objeven ve 30. letech 20. století na zahradě pana Březiny v Chotýši (některé údaje ale hovoří o tom, že je měl nalézt sedlák Josef Belza na svém poli „Na Dobruši“), a to ve formě hliněné nádoby plné drobných penízků. Nádobu s penězi bezpochyby kdosi ukryl v době nebezpečí do země, aniž by se ovšem pro něj někdy vrátil. Chotýš leží přibližně na půl cesty mezi tehdejší Trstenickou stezkou, významnou evropskou obchodní spojnicí (mj. mezi Prahou, Brodem, Kolínem a dále směrem na Olomouc) a královským městem Kouřimí.

Stavbu obklopuje původní zahrada. Muzeum tvoří jednu z dominant historické vilové čtvrti na severozápadním okraji města. Muzejní expozice přibližují památnou bitvu u Lipan (30. 5. 1434), slovanská hradiště v Pošembeří a zajímavou orientální sbírku cestovatele Josefa Zounka. Každoročně se zde koná také několik sezónních výstav a doprovodných programů. Podlipanské muzeum je součástí Regionálního muzea v Kolíně, příspěvkové organizace Středočeského kraje. Bohužel po sezóně je o víkendech zpřístupněno pouze po předchozí domluvě, bylo mi to moc líto hlavně kvůli zdejší archeologické expozici. The museum was founded in 1896 in the premises of a beautiful Art Nouveau building from 1927 to 1930, according to the design of architect Antonín Balšánek. The building is surrounded by the original garden. The museum forms one of the dominant of the historic villa district on the northwest edge of the city. Museum expositions are brought to light by the memorable battle of Lipany (30 May 1434), Slavic settlement in Pošembeří region and an interesting oriental collection of the traveler Josef Zounek. Several seasonal exhibitions and accompanying programs are held here every year. The Podlipan Museum is part of the Regional Museum in Kolín, a contributory organization of the Central Bohemia Region. Unfortunately, after the season, it is only accessible on weekends through earlier phone/web booking for several members groups, I was very sorry mainly because of the local archaeological exposition. M	Mary_Ann on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Muzeum má hezký vzhled. Vstup tam je zadarmo . Můžete se tam v druhém patře setkat s husitským vojskem které je v životní velikosti a svítí mu oči červenou barvu. Kromě husitského vojska tam mají i mnoho dalšího zajímavého. Konají se tam kulturní akce na kterých si můžete např. vyrazit středověký peníz. Moc se mi to tam líbilo.? S pozdravem Marie Anna The museum has a nice look. Entry is free. You can meet up on the second floor with a Hussite army that is life-sized and its eyes are red in color. Besides Hussite troops there are many more interesting. There are cultural events on which you can go for example medieval money. I liked it very much Yours sincerely, Marie Anna
