Monument originally installed in 1982, modified in 1991. Includes pylons with inscriptions containing data from the history of the national struggle for freedom. The memorial was completed in 1998 with a special memorial pylon dedicated to the Legionnaires of Česká Lípa region. The modern history of the square is connected with the relocation of the Red Army soldier monument in 1982 from the park near Ploučnice river, where new road was to take place. Besides the monument from 1948 there were placed pylons and inscriptions with data on the battles of Czechoslovakia Army Corps on the Eastern Front. After November 1989, the fate of these places was considered. The monument of the Soviet soldier was moved to the cemetery and this space was newly revitalized. On the pylons the plates were placed that in the slogans resemble the national liberation history of our country, from the legionary struggles in Russia, France and Italy through the Battle of England during the Second World War and the struggle of the Czechoslovak Army corps in the Soviet Union.
