Pravčická brána je největší přirozená skalní brána na našem kontinentu, národní přírodní památka. Je považována za nejkrásnější přírodní útvar Českého Švýcarska a tvoří symbol celé oblasti.

Pravčická brána stojí na svém místě odnepaměti. Je výsledkem milióny let trvajícího zvětrávání v méně odolné části skalního masivu, tvořeného kvádrovými pískovci turonského stáří.
V počátcích turistického objevování krásy Pravčické brány stával u její paty malý kůrou pobitý domek, sloužící jako výčep. Přístupová cesta od Hřenska zv. Pelagiensteig byla vydlážděna již koncem 70. let 19. stol. a tehdy došlo i k vybudování promenádní stezky směrem k Mezní Louce.
Roku 1881 nechal majitel panství kníže Edmund Clary-Aldringen vystavět u Pravčické brány výletní zámeček Sokolí hnízdo. Pozval si k tomu účelu dělníky z Itálie a to z prostého důvodu – byli nejlevnější pracovní silou. Celý zámeček byl postaven během jediného roku, což je při jeho rozsáhlosti a době, ve které byl stavěn, čas téměř rekordní. O několik let později bylo na skalních vyhlídkách v bezprostředním okolí vybudováno zábradlí.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great views. Be prepare to walk about 6km each way and it is about 180 czech króna to walk in the arch and access to the restaurant. So about €30 for a family of 4.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Incredible views from the arch, well worth the moderate 3.5 mile round trip hike. The restaurant located at the arch is a great place to have lunch or just grab a beer and relax at one of the many picnic tables.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It was a great sight, however there was a very strong smell which you could not ignore. If you are anywhere nearby (even Germany or Poland) I definitely recommend u stop by or you can plan your whole trip around it. Definitely worth it. You can make a whole day hiking day out of it or just stop by for 2 hours. It is not wheelchair accessible and if you do not like walking uphill this is definitely not for you.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Impressive hike to do specially during the winter. Being reward with the largest natural arch in Europe is certainly worthy the difficulty to park at the beginning of the hike.
The whole hike was pretty stepped to do but nothing extraordinary.
There's a Restaurant at the top, on a very nice building but it closes too soon during winter time, so we couldn't get something to eat. What makes sense because it's pretty difficult to come down at nightfall.
The arch itself is pretty beautiful to see and I advise to go to the highest viewpoint to have a good sight not only of the arch but also of the amazing landscape surrounding you.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice place to reach at the end of a hike through the forest. Beautiful sights, a place to rest and grab a drink or eat (if you get there during the opening hours). It could get crowded on weekends. Best to leave early from the parking and have time to continue the hike to other parts of the national park.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very beautiful place, even in winter time, quite easy to reach even for kids. Absolutely amazing view and very interesting geological case, plus you can get a coffee right under the gate. A small gallery, where you can find impressive photos of the place in different seasons of the year is worth of visiting too.
