Nový objekt nahradil faru, jejíž technický stav byl na počátku devadesátých let 20. století kritický. Centrum nyní plní roli sídla farnosti, i přednáškového centra, místa výuky náboženství, prostoru pro scházení farníků i dalších občanů Dobříše. Součástí komplexu jsou i dvě hřiště.
