In 1709, a local burgher Jan Roman Antonín Vodňanský financed a building of a Baroque column with a statue of John of Nepomuk twenty years before the Nepomuk´s canonization. Pope Benedict XIII. declared John as saint in March 19, 1729 by the canonization bull Christus Dominus. During the fire of the town in 1757 the column was damaged and was repaired a year later. Another repair took place after eleven years, then three times between 1900 - 1974 and the last one in 2007. Around the statue there was a forged lattice from the Klabava ironworks, which was stolen in 1968. The new grille was acquired during the last mentioned repair. In 2000 the original statue was placed in the local Museum of Dr. B. Burner and column head acquired a copy from synthetic resin.
