The oldest surviving written mention of Tuchoraz comes from a document dated May 23, 1295. From 1388 (during the reign of Wenceslas IV), Tuchoraz was owned by Petr of Klučov, who built the first fortress here. The local castle housed the local lords until 1579, when the village was permanently connected to the estate of nearby Kostelec nad Černými lesy by Jaroslav Smiřický of Smiřice. The village remained under its administration until 1848, and since 1960 it has belonged to the Kolín district. The name of the village originated from the personal name "Tuchorad - Tuchorad´s court" and has not changed over the centuries. Today, about 600 inhabitants live here.
