The Žatec Tourist Information Center is located directly in the town hall building, the entrance is from the right side of the town hall if you come from the main part of the square (from the Marán Column). Žatec gained city privileges in 1265. However, it experienced its greatest prosperity during the industrial revolution of hop growing. Today, a number of technical monuments and the Hop Museum with a unique exhibition on the technique and history of hop processing commemorate the famous epoch in the city's history. In the K. A. Polanka Regional Museum you can admire the collection of hop stamps, the largest exhibited set of special-purpose stamps in the Czech Republic. The traditional August festival of beer and hops, known as Dočesná, is popular.
