An interesting tip for a turn if you follow the red TZT from Benátky nad Jizerou to Stránov. It is a pleasant terrain diversification (quite a steep climb), the reward will be a view of the remains of a medieval fortification, which is now almost merged with the surrounding nature. The place is ideal especially for amateur fans of medieval history who want to "practice the eye" and look for the remains of long-forgotten buildings. After leaving Horky nad Jizerou (at the end of the village you pass the U Máchala pub), you will reach the metal footbridge over the Jizera after about 1.5 kilometers. Stay on the right bank, the bridge will only serve as a stronghold. After a short section between the houses of the village Hrušov, you will reach the forest again. After another approx. Kilometer you will come to a crossroads, and you will turn sharply to the left along the ascending road. From there you turn after 200 meters to a steep climb - the footpath on the hill is very indistinct. You will reach the watchtower of the fort. If you have a trained eye, you will notice an outer defensive ditch. Proceeding to the village of Hrušov you will come across an inner acropolis. The fortified area reaches dimensions of up to 85x70m. The outer ditch is up to 1.2 m high and the outside is lined by a ditch up to 1.5 m deep. At the western end, the outer rampart is damaged by the construction of an already removed cottage. In parallel with the outer rampart, the inner ramp runs every 15 m. The core of the fortress is separated from the inner rampart by a massive moat up to 3.5 m deep. The core has a roughly square floor plan measuring 20 x 15 m. The oldest reports about the village and the local fortress come from 1346, as the seat of the peasants Bohuňek and Řehník, members of the Voděradský family from Hrušov. Another owner is Milota z Rudče (1364), whose descendants were already written from Hrušov. The fortress stood in the middle of today's village, whose dominant feature was a quadrangular tower built of quarry stone and reinforced in the corners by massive blocks. Its facade was smooth, the roof simple, later with a lantern and a dome. During the Thirty Years' War, the village was burned down and the fortress was never restored. Only the mentioned tower has been preserved, but it did not survive communist planning and was demolished in 1959. Older descriptions state that the rooms on the upper floors were still decorated with historical scenes and paintings by the holder of the fortress.

A fortress stood on the headland in the 13th and 14th centuries. Preserved two defensive ramparts with ditches and a ditch delimiting the core of the fortress. Hrušovské stronghold is on a promontory above the confluence of Čertůvky and Jizera northeast of the village center. It is protected by two cranked ditches with ramparts between which the bailey. Another modified platform is on a promontory behind the core of the fortress itself. The hardest way to get to the easiest way along the road leading from the northern edge of Hrušov. The road leads between the fields and leads you to the beginning of the mixed forest, where you turn right onto a narrow path that leads you to the fortress.

The Hrušov fortress, also called Čertůvka, is located above the Čertůvka valley, dates from the 13th century and the fortress stood here for about 300 years. Then the owners moved to a new fortress in the village Hrušov. To this day, there are beautifully visible double ditches that protected the fortress. Nice place.
