Když jsem v nedělní podvečer stál na malém vrbčanském nástupišti, měl jsem trochu obavy, jestli spoj dodrží jízdní řád, dokonce jsem se snažil stát tak, aby mě obsluha soupravy náhodou nepřehlédla. Bylo po čtvrté odpoledne (v prosinci), takže se docela rychle stmívalo, další spoj jel až za dvě hodiny a v té tmě jsem nechtěl jít podél silnice. Samozřejmě vlak přijel dokonce na minutu přesně a nikdo mě v tom šeru nepřehlédl. Pro Vrbčany jsou ohledně železnice důležité dva letopočty: 1882, kdy byla postavena regionální trať Pečky - Kouřim, a rok 1905, kdy byla na katastru obce zřízena vlaková zastávka pro osobní dopravu. Tu tvoří jen nástupiště a neuzavřený přístřešek pro případ špatného počasí, odbavení cestujících probíhá ve vlaku. Přístup na nástupiště není bezbariérový.
