Dosud je znát původní rozptýlený vesnický půdorys tvořící unikátní urbanistický celek. Kdysi největší vesnice Rakouska-Uherska, která vznikla sloučením několika osad, byla v roce 1868 povýšena na město. Počtem obyvatel je druhým největším městem okresu Děčín, žije jich tu kolem 15 tisíc.

So far, the original scattered village floor plan forms a unique urban unit. In 1868, the once largest village of Austria-Hungary, which was formed by the merger of several settlements, was promoted to a town. It is the second largest city in the district of Děčín with a population of around 15,000.
