 A taste of our history

Our marketing organization was formerly known as Prague Information Service (PIS). PIS was established in early 1958 as an information and educational institution to support tourism in Prague and was one of the city's public-benefit corporations. Since January 2015, the organization has used the “Prague City Tourism” marketing brand exclusively. It has thus become a modern marketing agency and service organization. In 2018, the Prague City Council decided to transform the public-benefit corporation into a joint-stock company, a change which took effect on 1 July 2020.

Woodrow Wilson se uz konečně může dívat na park bez pochybných existencí. Co jsem procházel nyní, tak jsem snad neviděl žádné bezdomovce nebo další pochybné lidi . ?
Woodrow Wilson can finally look at the park without questionable existences. What I was going through now, I didn't see any homeless or other dubious people. ?

If you access from a Metro station exit on the ground, you will see this long benches with people sitting (looks like homeless people). You don't feel safe to walk though this area nor want to be near even in a daytime.

Head of the Czech Republic Prague and International Railway Station. Very nice environment, open weather outside, inside market and platform. The service of the staff is very beautiful. There is a metro station just below the railway station above. There are also tram and bus services outside . All in all, you will get all the services of the International Station here.

Hmm.... There is an interesting history of a statue of American President Woodrow Wilson. It was erected in 1928 in honor of his role in the creation of Czechoslovakia. Although much of Prague was spared the total destruction that faced many old towns of Europe during the Second World War, the Germans did manage to destroy this statue in 1941. In 1946, a plaque was erected noting that it was the site of the statue and that it would soon be rebuilt. It took 65 years, but the statue was finally reinstalled in 2011. However, the park is now cluttered with homeless people and you'll find that they like to gather at times at the statue's base.

This monument stands in tribute to Woodrow Wilson, the American president who was partly responsible for the creation of the League of Nations, and whose support for an independent state of Czechoslovakia is a poignant reminder of the state before the terrible events of the Second World War. The monument is a bronze sculpture of Wilson standing wearing a suit with a cloak. Both of his hands are placed in front, palms facing forward in a gesture of peace Behind him is a throne like chair. Stylistically, the sculpture is very similar to sculptures depicting Abraham Lincoln in similar poses, but this one is not quite as monumental. The monument is worth as quick detour as it’s in the grassy area just in front of Prague central station, otherwise I wouldn’t go out of the way to see it.
